The Spaced Repetition Multiplication App for Kids and Adults

Multiplication isn't about calculation; it's about reflex. Memoply uses the FSRS spaced repetition algorithm to turn slow finger-counting into instant recall of math facts. Its like Duol*ngo for multiplication.

The Calculation Trap

It started with 6 × 8. My first one could calculate it eventually(I think). But they were doing mental gymnastics, counting on their fingers or adding 8s together, or who knows what.

That's not mastery. That's calculation. When a math test comes, that slowness turns into anxiety.

I tried existing times tables apps, but they were frustratingly random. They would waste time on 2 × 2 (which my kids knew) while barely asking 6 × 8 (which they always got wrong or slowly). They also tended to look childish and have a terrible UX. None of the school age kids want to use childish apps.

I found myself manually keeping a mental list of their "weak" numbers to quiz them and thats how we got somewhere. With fresh batch of kids in the school I had to do this all ower again and then I realized I was acting as a human spaced-repetition algorithm. So, I built Memoply to do that job properly. It forces speed, penalizes slowness, and focuses on what they don't know.

I also wanted to try phone app development. And thats how Memoply was born.

You can see how the volume of questions goes down, but it also shows the "Sawtooth" pattern - every once in a while the algorithm is verifying retention before moving facts to long-term memory.

Transparency: Why paid?

The "Backend Developer" Experiment I'm primarily a backend engineer. I built this to challenge myself to create a complete, high-quality mobile experience from scratch—dealing with App Store guidelines, UI development, and payments. I wanted to see if I could build something small but perfect.

Sustainable & Independent Apple charges $99/year just to keep an app on the store. The small one-time fee will hopefully get this money back.

Absolutely No Ads Free apps usually monetize your attention or your data. I refuse to show ads to children, and I refuse to sell their data. The customer is you, not an advertiser.

Fair Pricing The price varies slightly by country, but it's generally around ~$2 / 2€. That's less than a single coffee for a tool your child can use forever. There is also family sharing so you need to buy only one for a family. I have some promo codes too if you want the app, but don't want to pay for it.

Changelog

Updates & Improvements

Version 1.1.

Dec 1, 2025
  • Habits: Added a habit tracker
  • Progress:Added mastery graph
  • i18n: Added (automatic) translations for some languages.
  • Minor fixes:Color changes, view updates

Version 1.0.1

Nov 20, 2025
  • Adjust speed: Improved rating thresholds to account for reaction time and typing speed - it should be bit easier to get perfect score. I was aiming at 1.5sec for perfect score but I did not think about reaction and typing times
  • Improved notifications:Notifications now include the amount of calculations
  • iPad:Improved usability on IPads, the practice screen is more useable, sorry for not testing that
  • UI:Fixed heatmap rendering - its more uniform and pleasant now. Bunch of small adjustments here and there

Version 1.0.0

Nov 4, 2025
  • Launched the App
